Please read these commenting guidelines before registering:

Our primary interest is in providing good quality information and discussion for our readers. We consider those who post comments to be guests who add to the discussion and provide a richer experience for our readers. The site is actively moderated and the staff are authorized to maintain a civil discussion and where necessary will delete comments and suspend accounts if they judge that one of our guests is degrading the quality of the Woodpile reading experience. Here are some guidelines to follow as you write comments:

  1. We encourage the use of real names among our commenters, although we don't make it a condition of use. Our view is that the use of actual names is more honest and tends to promote better behavior. But if you feel more comfortable using an alias, please go ahead.
  2. When citing facts, please provide references or links. When presenting an argument, cite supporting evidence and use logical reasoning.
  3. Make it clear when you are expressing an opinion. Do not present opinions as facts.
  4. Treat members of the community with civility and respect. If you see disrespectful behavior, report it to the staff rather than trying to discipline the person in the discussion.
  5. Attacks on individuals are not acceptable. If you disagree with someone, challenge their statements with facts rather than insulting them.
  6. Try to stay on topic when discussing the subject of a feature article.
  7. Feel free to raise any wood heat-related issue in the discussion following the ‘News and Commentary’ section.
  8. When posting photos, graphics or charts, always check the file size first. Reduce resolution to 72dpi and width to no more than 8.5 inches. Compress it if you can. We conserve energy by keeping our bandwidth low. If in doubt, contact us.
  9. Do not copy and paste complete copyrighted articles without permission from the copyright holder.
  10. Do not use comments to promote products and services for sale.
  11. Posts are limited to 4000 characters or about 800 words. If you have more to say please feel free to post additional comments.
